In 2020 we had a sweet camper van lined up -- a start-up rental company called BlueSun Campervans offering a brand new Dodge van with bed, kitchenette, solar power, etc. We had an awesome deal because we were one of their first customers and we were going to help put them on the map, literally, by bringing the van out West and flooding Instagram with their logo splashed across the canyons of Utah and mountains of Colorado.

But then came Covid. We canceled. They were nice enough to give our deposit back.

And finally, pandemic hibernation.

But we're back and we have a new plan. No more expensive van rentals. We're taking our 2021 Ford Ranger Sport edition with some important modifications.

1. An RSi Smartcap to cover the bed and keep our gear dry. With only a 60" bed sleeping arrangements will be cramped, but with the tailgate down and back window up we'll be able to stretch out as long as there are no bugs. Just in case I snuck into the back a mosquito net we used in Kenya.

2. A rack on top of the cap to tie down extra gear like our fancy Yeti folding chairs, fishing rods, cross country skis, and water cans.

3. A slick Kuat Sherpa 2.0 bike rack to carry our two hybrids. The design allows easy folding up and down, and its light weight makes removal a cinch.

Almost time to hit the road and counting the days. Ford service lined up for an oil change and tune up even though the truck only has 6,000 miles on it!
